The boy’s bowling team started their first tryouts on November 16th at Strikers in West Seneca. Three days of tryouts were held in order to determine who was put on the team.

The first match was on December 2nd against Frontier, at Cloverbank Country Club. The team won the match with a close score of 4-3, looking to make up for their performance at the Maryvale tournament that was held a couple days before. Both teams’ scores were high, leading to high scoring games.

Declan Stiles, one of the top bowlers on the team, scored a three game set of 753, with scores of 246, 251, and 256. These scores make up the highest set in the Division as of December 8th, 2021.

Nick Mathews was also a top player in Thursday’s game with his set of 702. His scores were a combination of 258, 227, and 217. His scores make up to achieve the second highest set in the division.

The team is excited for their new season, and for future matches and tournaments.

“I know our team can have a great performance this season,” and “I’m excited to see what that looks like,” said Nick Mathews, after his first match against Frontier.

The team’s next match is against West Seneca West at their home turf, Strikers Lanes on December 9th.  They will be fighting for a clean sweep in a 7-0 victory over West Seneca. The A team will consist of the three top bowlers Declan Stiles, Nick Mathews, and Tanner Ambrosio.

“I think we can do really well at this upcoming match. With all the practice we can put in, I think we can really show our full potential.” says Declan Stiles.

The team has a full season ahead of them to lead them to the final fight at this year’s Sectionals. They are looking for placement and pull another win in the sectional finals in March.
