Kindness is Easy

As we move through the school year, it’s important to remember that kindness is simple, and you don’t have to look hard to find ways to brighten someone’s day. I recently received a very simple but thoughtful act of kindness from a stranger when my friend and I visited the library. There turned out to be a book sale, so we picked out a few books; but when we went up to the counter, we realized that we did not have any cash with us–cards not accepted. The librarian was suggesting that we leave the books and pick them up later when we had money. I was pulling my phone out to call my brother to help us out, when a lady that was also book shopping behind us offered to pay for our books. The cost was less than a dollar, but it’s the thought that counts, since her gesture revived my friend’s and my faith in humanity and made us a little more aware of the people around us. Kindness is easy—just don’t forget to look around every once in a while.
