It’s a brand new year, and play auditions have already come and gone. Rehearsals for the annual school play have begun! This year’s play is Humbug!, a modern retelling of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. It follows the story of Eleanor Scrooge, played by current sophomore, Jane Hereth. It tells a very similar story as the Dickens book with a little bit of a twist! The cast is working very hard to bring this show to life, so be sure to be in the audience November 9th-11th! And if you feel sad that you didn’t make the cut or weren’t able to be there, don’t worry, the school musical, Anastasia, is just around the corner!
The school play is normally dominated almost exclusively by upperclassmen. But sometimes, there’re at least 2-3 freshmen. This year, only one made it in. Meet James Blair, a well-known thespian in these parts and the lead in the last 3 musicals he’s been in. The Voice was lucky enough to hear his thoughts on being cast.
Q: What did you do that Mrs Szczepanik liked so much?
A: I’d like to think I made her impressed with my level of skill, considering my age.
Q: How do you feel about being the only freshman?
A: I feel good. It’s a pretty big achievement that I’m proud of myself for.
Q: Any advice for people that might audition next year?
A: Yeah, don’t stutter. Seems easier said than done, but just really practice and try bringing something unique to the table.
