Quaker Marching Band dominated at Cavalcade with a winning score of 86.45. On the 21st, bands flocked to the high school athletic fields to compete in Cavalcade, OP’s annual marching band competition. This year, 8 bands attended the competition, including West Seneca and Jamestown, who competed against QMB in the Large School 2 division. The Quakers finished first in their division, crushing the WS warhawks and JHS big cats with their highest score of the season.
Quaker Marching Band’s theme was the last leaves of fall; their show featured vibrant orange flags, warm toned costumes, and music from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. During their show, sheer white flags were gradually incorporated to illustrate the shift from fall to winter.
Jamis Caselli, QMB’s drum major, described Cavalcade as “their best performance of the season”. He expressed that he’s proud of the band, which is “a lot better than last year”.
QMB uses Cavalcade and other competitions to prepare for the NYSFBC Field Band Championships, or Dome, in Syracuse. Jamis explained he’s ¨terrified¨ for Dome, but confident the band will deliver their ¨best preformance¨ yet.
In the week following Cavalcade, the band prepares for championships in Syracuse, and celebrates their win.
