This year, a groundbreaking development has occurred at The Quaker Corner, Slushies.
Every day after school, The Quaker Corner (the OPHS bookstore) sells slushies along with snacks, drinks, OP merchandise, school supplies, Mini Melts ice cream, and more.
The slushie ¨flavors rotate throughout the year¨ explained Kira Novak, the bookstore manager. Two flavors are available at a time, and flavors include cherry, blue raspberry, apple cider, peach mango, wild berry, and strawberry lemonade.
Although the slushie machine is a magnificent addition to the school, it´s recently been collecting dust.
Lately, the frosty fruit machine is seldom used. At the beginning of the school year, sales were up during the fall sports season, recounted Kira. ¨Now that it’s winter, [the slushie business] is pretty dead, nobody comes,¨ she lamented.
This winter, spare yourself the long walk to 7-11 and support the local slushie machine at the Quaker Corner.
