When you need something to get you through a tough time, what’s the first thing you reach for? For Orchard Park students, it’s music. No matter the circumstances, there’s a song for everything, and maybe looping your favorite hype song is the key to getting you back on your feet.
If you’re looking for some good tunes to break a sweat to or use as the soundtrack of a messy breakup, look no further. Recently, The Voice polled some seniors to determine what their favorite hype songs are, and the results spanned a variety of distinct artists and musical genres. It’s fascinating how all kinds of music, from country to heavy metal, are capable of pulling you out of a rut. Regardless of taste, there’s a song for you.
After reviewing the results, the favorite genre amongst Orchard Park’s seniors is pop music. Artists like Taylor Swift and Post Malone make frequent appearances, with some of their most popular hype songs being “I Wish You Would” and “Novacandy.” 2010s music, featuring artists like Lady Gaga and Rihanna, is a fan favorite as well. “Paparazzi” and “Shut Up and Drive” are timeless hype classics.
Following closely behind pop is rap, a definite favorite amongst the high school crowd. Travis Scott is undoubtedly one of Orchard Park’s favorite artists, with his song “Nightcrawler” making it onto the list. Additional genres include country and rock, and although such songs are less frequently considered hype songs, they’re worth a mention. “Make Me Wanna” by Thomas Rhett and “Kickstart My Heart” by Motley Crew are the less popular—but equally hypeworthy—songs from these genres.
As they say, music is life, and Orchard Park’s seniors definitely prove this. It’s reassuring to know that music can provide comfort and encourage resilience for so many. Take this as a sign to use some of these songs—or even better, search for your own—the next time you need a little pick-me-up.
