OPHS is home to countless clubs, from The Voice and Art Club, to more lesser-known clubs, like Medical Career Interest Group and Fiddlers Club. There is something for everyone at OP.
And this December, a new club appeared, carrying one of the more unique names OP has ever seen: The Gingerbread House.
The club revolves around the appreciation of literature (poetry, mostly). Staff and students gather in room 349B (the former QTV recording space) and listen to literature, with a new theme every month.
Attendees don’t just have to listen, they can read at the podium too! Anyone can share their favorite poem, a story, or a poem from one of the poetry books around the room.
During meetings, gingerbread decor, poetry books, ambient lighting, and a fresh seating arrangement transform a typical classroom into a magical gingerbread house.
But the gingerbread accents are merely an effect of the name, so why is the club called The Gingerbread House? The answer is simple: it just ¨sounds yummier¨ than ¨The Coffee House¨, explained Ms. Tolman, the club’s advisor.
The next meeting is on February 27th, and they´ll be reading valentines poetry. You won’t want to miss it!
