The Senior Class held its first Homeroom Representative meeting of the year on October 22, 2024. It discussed plans for this school year.
“We are planning on spending some of our class funds on a class gift to the school. We just don’t know on what exactly. Leaving a class gift is a tradition that sort of fell away post-Covid because finances were uncertain. But now, we’re trying to make a return to all of the pre-covid things seniors classes did,” said Class Co-advisor Ms. Rodemeyer.
Senior Class President Ashley Rozic discussed the class’s annual service project. “We are also in the process of planning a Senior Citizen Night Out at the high school. We haven’t confirmed a theme yet, but we have a few ideas and would love suggestions,” said Rozic. Some ideas that are currently up in the air are a “Senior” Prom, Movie Night, a scrapbooking event, an ice cream social, or a chicken dinner.
“I love the idea of a Senior Citizen Night. I think it would be a great way to get involved in the community,” said class member Maddy Shurtliffe,
Senior Class Treasurer Salem Ben Abdallah discussed other fun activities in the works. “Additionally, we are planning a Senior class night out, not to be confused with the Senior Citizen Night Out. I have contacted Get Air, and I plan to get in contact with Lasertron; however, this is just to explore our options, but nothing is set in stone,” said Ben Abdallah.
The Senior Class also discussed its plans for staff appreciation for October. They put Halloween candy in the faculty rooms along with signs expressing gratitude for the faculty and staff here at OPHS.
