Join the excitement in room 319 for two fantastic clubs open to all students.
Board Game Club, advised by Mr. Ferrara, is the perfect place to unwind. The relaxed flow in the room allows students to engage freely in the board game play. You can enjoy a variety of board games every week. Meetings generally run on Thursdays but may differ with circumstances.
“Students should want to join the Board Game Club because of how relaxed and leisurely it is. It is a place where students can come to socialize and meet new people who are different from themselves and may be able to offer them alternative perspectives. I have seen students who would have previously never spoken to each other become friends, which is pretty freaking sweet!”
Mr. Hackford, also in Room 319, is in the process of chartering a Dungeons and Dragons (D & D) Club with STAP Comm, which will be another great opportunity for students. The club informally started last year, and it expanded as more students wanted to join. There are a solid 15 students who play regularly. If you enjoy playing D&D, then reach out to Mr. Hackford.
Mr. Hackford explained that the club consists of a Creative Game Master who narrates what happens during the story. They are the world builder and storytellers who create the world, its characters, and any conflicts or struggles. Three to 5 other players agree to play the Dungeon Master’s game and create a hero to help save the day.
“Dungeons and Dragons is a game that heavily promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving… Dungeon Masters have to create interesting, challenging, and mysterious situations, and players have to figure out ways to solve these mysteries,” described Mr. Hackford. “It’s a lot of fun, especially if you don’t take yourself or the game too seriously!”
“We would love to have anyone interested in swords, shields, spells, or being generally silly and creative,” encouraged Mr. Hackford. D&D meets on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:30.
All students are encouraged to join, and new members are appreciated at either the Board Game Club or D&D Club, so come join the wonderful experiences in room 319.
