With the school year coming to a close, we were curious to find out what our teachers’ plans are this summer.
We did a poll, asking what students thought their teachers would be up to this summer. 38% thought vacation/traveling; another 38% thought they weren’t doing anything; and 25% thought they would be thinking about past school years.
We caught up with a handful of teachers and asked them the question, “What plans do you have this summer?” Here’s what they had to say:
Miss Barsi, one of our librarian staff members, has a busy travel schedule this summer. She will be going to Tennessee, Ohio, and Kentucky. She will also be teaching summer school in Depew.
Mrs. Farrell will be enjoying the great outdoors this summer break. She’s taking a trip to her house in the Adirondacks and looks forward to doing a multitude of outdoor activities, like paddle boarding, canoeing, campfires, hiking, and kayaking. “I like to be outdoors as much as possible,” she said.
Mrs. Flor is putting all her good science knowledge to use, as she will be meeting with teachers over the summer to help revamp the NYS Earth Science curriculum. She’s also hoping to visit the Adirondacks and plans to spend the majority of the summer relaxing and driving her kids places.
Mr. Hunter will be preparing his daughter for college, sending her off to start a new, exciting chapter in her life. He also plans on going on a golf trip at the end of July into August with some friends, driving his daughters around for volleyball, and taking some well-earned relaxation time. “Besides that, just some good, old, family time,” he added.
Mr. Norvilitis is headed out to Ireland in July for a family vacation, which will be the last before his daughter graduates this week. While in Ireland, they have plenty of fun activities planned, like taking train trips across the country and kissing the Blarney Stone.
Mr. Reesor will be teaching French to children ages 3-7 for eight weeks as a camp counselor in downtown Buffalo. On top of that, he will be taking a graduate class, “Foundation for Bilingual Language.”
No matter how they’re spending their vacation, our teachers are making the most of their well-deserved break. We wish them a restful and rewarding summer, and we can’t wait to see them again in the fall!
