We all have different opinions when it comes to the Flag Football theme, but what about Homecoming? A few students were interviewed to see what they thought about this year’s theme and dance.
“I think it’s a really good idea and definitely interesting,” remarked Adelynn Brown, a freshman. She’s planning on attending and will be following the masquerade ball theme.
When it comes to shopping, students find their dresses at a range of places, from JCPenney to Lulu’s. One sophomore has already purchased a secondhand strapless pink dress at a thrift store for the Homecoming dance. She likes the idea of a masquerade ball because “it allows people to be able to wear pretty much whatever they want, color and length-wise, but still be on theme.” While she feels wearing a mask isn’t essential to fit the theme, she might buy one to add to her look.
One senior interviewed typically orders her dress from Amazon, which can save time and money. She is excited for this year’s dance, especially considering “a group of friends and [she] are all getting ready together before the dance! Since it’s senior year, it’s like [they] have to experience it for one last time.”
While some students are fully on board with the theme, others have a few issues with “Masquerade Ball” for Homecoming. According to the senior interviewed, while she believes the concept is cool in theory, “since we can’t wear masks to the dance [she doesn’t] really understand it.”
Like most of us, she understands the school’s reasoning for prohibiting masks for student safety, but this rule could have been considered with a different theme.
“Other themes like ‘Under the Stars’ would be pretty,” she responded thoughtfully. “We could hang up fairy lights… Last year’s Tangled theme was pretty, too.” However, she still likes the idea of a masquerade theme for the parade, specifically for teams and clubs walking in it. It will certainly be fun to see how each of the sports teams and clubs dress up for this year’s theme.
All in all, this year’s Homecoming theme is an exciting one, with delightful decorations already being set up and Homecoming proposals well underway.
