Alphonso David recently has been fired for aiding Governor Cuomo in covering his alleged sexual misconduct. As a result, the Human Rights Campaign quickly terminated him. It was found out that David wrote a letter on how to undermine former Governor Cuomo’s first victim.

David was asked to resign, but he refused, as he believes he is innocent. “I have the support of too many of our employees, board members, and stakeholders to walk away quietly into the night. I am not resigning,”  refused Mr. David. David also claimed “They unjustly provided notice of termination to me in order to end my fight for the integrity of the review process and for what is right” and adding that people should expect a legal challenge.

As for the board of directors, they believe that Alphonso’s firing was completely just: “His actions have put us in an untenable position by violating HRC’s core values, policies, and mission,”

The Human Rights Campaign provides significant support to groups like those advocating for LGBTQIA+ issues. If Mr. David were to continue being president, the organization might not be viewed much differently than their adversaries in the fight for human rights. The board agrees, saying “Additionally, this conduct has created damage to Mr. David’s reputation significant enough to impair his ability to effectively serve as the public face and voice.”
